Roberta Irene Mayfield

April 18, 1950 — August 24, 2006

Roberta Irene Mayfield, 56, of Chetopa, died at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2006, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 18, 1950 in Oswego, Kansas to Ralph "Bud" Stice, Jr. and Mildred (Allison) Stice. She grew up and attended schools in Oswego and graduated from Oswego High School in 1968. She was Labette County Deputy Register of Deeds for 13 years.

Her memberships included the First Christian Church in Chetopa and most recently attended the River of Life Church in Coffeyville. She enjoyed watching reality television. Roberta had helped organize and had participated in the Relay for Life and enjoyed bowling in the Oswego women's bowling league. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren immensely and was an avid spectator of their sporting events.

On May 23, 1975, she married Joseph M. Mayfield, Jr. He survives.

Six Grandchildren- Leyton, Alex, Cauy, Jaleigh, Caden and Corven and a grandson "on the way".
Two Sisters - Alexis Lawson Oswego, KS
Janis Woods Owasso, OK

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father in February 2006, a
brother-in-law; Charlie Woods, her mother-in-law; Betty Jo Mayfield and a nephew, Jeremy Stillwell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Chetopa Community Bible Church in Chetopa, Kansas. Burial will be in the Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00–8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. These may be left at or mailed to the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 706 Maple, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
