Ronald E. McNickle, 76, of rural Mound Valley, passed away at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his home.
He was born November 10, 1939 in rural Ringwood, Oklahoma to Wayne Frank and Burnes Pauline (Parker) McNickle. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Southeast Kansas where he grew up and attended school in the rural Mound Valley area. Ronald was a 1957 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont and also attended Kansas State University in Manhattan.
On September 20, 1958, he and Carolyn E. McFeely were married in Coffeyville. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963. The couple and his parents were co-owners and operators of Cherry Bowl bowling alley in Cherryvale for ten years. He was in charge of the daily cattle operation at the Kansas State Research Station at Mound Valley for 36 years until retiring.
He was a member of Center Bethel Church in rural Parsons and The Gideons International for many years. Ronald served in various capacities on the Twin Valley Electric Cooperative Board of Directors for 15 years and also on several state electric boards. He enjoyed farming and attending his grandchildren's sporting events, listening to them play music, and going to their fair activities.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Burnes McNickle, in April of 2006; and a son-in-law, Jack McGuire, on September 13, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Center Bethel Church with Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Burial will be at Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
