Rosemary Duffy, 90, formerly of Parsons, died at 7:52 a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on August 25, 1928 in Greenbush, Kansas to Philip and Anna (Brophy) Marnell. She attended elementary school in Greenbush and graduated high school from Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita, Kansas in 1946. She first worked at the former Mercy hospital in Parsons while home on summer vacation from high school. Following graduation, she was employed at the Hallmark Company as a Department Supervisor until May of 1950.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She had served as President of the Altar Society several times over the years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed sewing and working in her garden, working with stained glass, and painting. She was a member of the Quilters Guild of Parsons, and the SEK Art Guild. Rosemary won several awards for her paintings. In earlier years, she was a Girl Scout Leader.
On October 1, 1949, she and John Joseph Duffy were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2012.
Rosemary was a warm, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a devout catholic.

Nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren
One Brother – Philip Marnell and his wife Sandra Littleton, Colorado
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerard, and Patrick Marnell; and two sisters, Sr. Phyllis (Rita) Marnell (ASC), and Sr. Roselma (Mary Theresa) Marnell (ASC).
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
