Altamont

Roy H. Fisk, 83, of Altamont, and former longtime resident of Edna, passed away at 11:50 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Pittsburg.

He was born August 2, 1932 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Russell and Viola (Duncan) Fisk. As a young boy, Roy grew up in rural Edna where he attended country school and was a 1949 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

Roy served in the United States Army two years. Upon his honorable discharge, he traveled extensively throughout the United States and briefly in South America where he worked as a welder on pipelines.

On July 22, 1955, he and Gaye K. Keller were married in Dillon, South Carolina. Following marriage, the couple made their home in Edna. He began employment at Farmland Industries in Coffeyville as a welder and was later promoted to an engineering position which included the responsibilities of superintendent on all new construction at the refinery. After 30 years of service, he retired from Farmland Industries. Following his retirement, he continued to work as an independent consultant for area municipalities and construction companies.

Roy was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Edna where he served as Sunday School teacher, trustee, and deacon and was currently attending the First Baptist Church in Altamont. For over 31 years, Roy who was fondly known as "Coach" had a positive impact on the lives of many boys and young men who played Little League baseball and softball in the Edna area. He especially enjoyed restoring Model A and Model T cars, fishing, and hunting.

Two Daughters – Gina Frazier and her husband, Dan Booneville, MO
Lisa Lundquist and her husband Paul Lyle, IL
Eight Grandchildren
Ten Great-Grandchildren
One Sister – Neva May Fisk Pittsburg, KS

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lloyd Raymond Fisk.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will be at Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the First Baptist Church in Altamont.

Memorials are suggested to Shepherds Ministries. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
