Ruby M. Acridge, 88, of Edna, died at 4:29 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas.
She was born January 25, 1919, in Wimer District of Craig County, Oklahoma, to Harold Lee and Lillie Emmaline (Burks) Kimrey. She grew up and attended Pettit and Plainview Schools in Oklahoma and graduated from eighth grade at the Lake Creek School in Bartlett.
Through the years she worked in sewing factories in Cherryvale, Parsons and Chetopa, and as a cook at both the Edna Grade School and high school. She later worked as a janitor's helper at the Edna Grade School until she was forced to retire due to ill health.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Edna and the Royal Neighbors of Edna. Her hobbies included gardening, caring for her animals, fishing, crocheting, quilting and spending time outdoors. She loved and enjoyed being with her family.
She and Chris R. Acridge were married June 21, 1941 in Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1951.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Edna, Kansas. Burial will be in the North Edna Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m., at the church prior to the service.
