Ruby "Sis" Edwards

Ruby "Sis" (Wade) Edwards, 62, of Parsons, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada.

She was born November 21, 1954 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Rollie and Virginia (Strickland) Wade. She grew up and attended elementary school in Parsons and was a 1972 graduate of Labette County High School in Altamont. She then attended Pittsburg Cosmetology School and became a licensed cosmetologist in 1973.

For a time, she worked as a hairdresser before becoming a paraprofessional at the Parsons High School. She also worked as a sign language interpreter. In 2008, she began working, and received great personal satisfaction, as a volunteer with Kindred Hospice.

As a child, she attended the First Baptist Church in Parsons. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with her husband on work-related trips. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She and Robert E. "Bob" Edwards were married June 10, 1978 in Parsons. He survives of the home.

Three Step-Grandchildren – Caleb Arnold, Ashton Arnold, and Boston Arnold

Two Sisters – Mona Smith and her husband, Ken                 Rural Erie, KS

Amy Werling and her husband, Bob                                      Brownsburg, IN

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons with Rev. John Chastain officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kindred Gentiva Hospice Foundation (for Camp I Believe – Kansas, a children's bereavement camp). These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
