Ruby M. Lackey

Ruby M. Lackey, 79, of Parsons, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at her home.

She was born December 12, 1938 in Angola, Kansas to William and Ora (McCartney) Phillips.  As a young girl, Ruby grew up in the Angola and Edna area where she attended school and graduated from Edna High School.

In earlier years, Ruby worked as a lineman and heavy equipment operator for the electrical union.  She later worked for the City of Edna on the police patrol and as city treasurer. Ruby also had worked as a para at Labette County High School in Altamont and most recently had driven a school bus for Edna Grade School for several years.

She was a member of the IBEW # 304 in Topeka.  Ruby loved ceramics, playing bingo, riding motorcycles, tending to her Jersey cows and calves, and especially enjoyed making Christmas candy for her family and friends.

Brother – James W. Phillips of Lawndale, CA

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Michael Craddock; and one sister, Phyllis (Phillips) Miller.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call at their convenience at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont to sign the register on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
