Russell T. Groves, 55, of Parsons, died at 9:15 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born November 6, 1958, in Parsons, Kansas, to George and Muriel (Mills) Groves. He grew up in Parsons where he attended schools.
Through the years, he had worked in construction in various locations. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and cars. He was also an avid fan of the KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs.
He and Patricia "Patty" Hastings were married. They later divorced. On April 1, 2000, he and Maria Martinez were married in Parsons. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his parents, George and Muriel Groves, of Parsons, KS; two sons, Daniel T. Groves and his wife, Tabitha, of Dewey, OK, and Aaron M. Groves and his companion, Lacie, of Alva, OK; one daughter, Amanda Lambert and her husband, Brandon, of Alva, OK; five grandchildren, Bailey, Noah and Abbie Groves and Delaney and Kaden Lambert; one brother, Stephen Groves and his wife, Debra, of Monroe, WI; and his niece, Karlie Groves, of Monroe, WI.
Additional survivors include his mother-in-law, Luz Martinez, Parsons, KS; in-laws, Paula Martinez of K.C., MO; Juanita, Monica, Ramon and Erin Martinez, all of Parsons, KS; nephews, Devinaire Martinez, Columbus, KS, and Jake Martinez, Parsons, KS; and nieces, Tatum Martinez, of Wichita, KS; Lourdes Martinez, Bella Dominguez and Olivia Martinez, all of Parsons, KS.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kinsley Lambert.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m, Monday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
