Ruth Marie Hinman, 81, of Parsons, died at 3:35 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2009, at her home.
She was born January 10, 1928, in Galena, Kansas, to William and Ruby (Gandy) Sturgis. As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools in Galena.
On June 25, 1956, she and William "Marvin" Hinman were married in Miami, Oklahoma. Following marriage, they lived in various towns in Kansas. In the early 1960's, they moved to Parsons where they made their home and raised their family. He preceded her in death November 5, 1970.
She loved the outdoors and enjoyed flower gardening, feeding birds and squirrels, embroidery and collecting various items. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their activities. She had attended the Parsons Church of the Nazarene in the past.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marsha Ward, in 1997; one son, Doug Hinman, in 2007, one granddaughter, Crystal Hinman; five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Gandy Cemetery, rural Galena, Kansas.
