Ruth E. Hodge, 77, a lifelong resident of Parsons, died at 7:30 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2010, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born September 23, 1933, in Parsons, Kansas, to Gladys (Newton) Sears. She grew up and attended school in Parsons and was a 1951 graduate of Parsons High School.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons.
On May 11, 1952, she married Irvin Hodge in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death March 17, 1987.
Survivors include:
Four Sons – Richard Hodge and wife, Becky Gentry, AR
Ronald Hodge and wife, Sherrie Parsons, KS
Patrick Hodge
Steven J. Hodge
One Daughter – Sharon Clark and husband, David Romeo, MI
Fifteen Grandchildren
Nineteen Great-Grandchildren
One Sister – Patty Shira Coffeyville, KS
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Mirl Sears; one son, Terry Hodge; and one granddaughter, Amber Hodge.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
