Sally S. McKinzie, 79, of rural Altamont, passed away the evening of Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Freeman Health Systems in Joplin.

Sally Sue Mansfield was born on January 9, 1944, to Bernard Eldon and Sarah Maxine (Claxton) Mansfield in McCune, Kansas.  As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in McCune.  In 1962, Sally graduated and earned a testimonial in secretarial training from Labette County Community High School.

Following high school, she worked at the State Bank of Parsons.  On December 26, 1964, Sally and Ronald V. "Ron" McKinzie were united in marriage at the McCune United Methodist Church.  While Ron was serving in the United States Army, the couple lived in Germany.  Upon Ron's discharge, the couple settled in Fredonia for a year, before establishing their farm and ranch in the Altamont area, where they have lived since. In 1978, Sally began working at the Farm Service Agency, where she worked for 33 years until her retirement.

A devoted Christian, Sally was a member of the Western Way Cowboy Church in Altamont.  Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She loved riding horses, swimming and camping.  Sally also enjoyed her Coca-Cola and Hummel collections.
