Sam L. Morris, 85, of Parsons, passed away at 10:09 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
He was born February 15, 1931 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Sam and Margaret H. (Andres) Morris. At the age of 4, he moved with his family to Coffeyville where he grew up and attended Catholic schools.
In 1950, Sam moved to Independence where he worked at Continental Can until 1961. He then worked at Junge's Baking from 1961-1963, and Valley Distributors in Parsons from 1963 to 1974. In 1966, he moved to Parsons where he worked at SAC Manufacturing from 1974-1981, managed Prairie West Condominiums, and owned and operated Morris Management with his wife, Jane.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons and Elk's BPOE Lodge No. 527. In earlier years, Sam enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bowling.
In August of 1949, he and JoAnn Lattin were married at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. They later divorced. On November 19, 1971, he and Mary Jane (Wiley) Ele were married in Parsons. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2014.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Morris, stepson, Michael "Mike" Ele; grandchildren, Chad, Jamie and Stephanie; and four sisters, Elsie Perkins, Marcella Richards, Dorothy Smith and Mary Morris.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Friday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends at 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
