Samuel P. "Sam" Sorrell, Sr., 69, of Bartlett, passed away at 3:07 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at Labette Health in Parsons.
He was born August 11, 1946 in Myrtle, Missouri to Audie Lee and Tola Anna (Chester) Sorrell. He grew up and attended school near Myrtle.
On June 25, 1966, he and Sharon E. Weir were married. The couple made their home in Thayer, Missouri where he farmed and raised laying hens before moving in 1980 to Kansas where he continued to farm and dairy alongside his lifelong friends, Randel and DeLoris Bradley. In 1988, he began employment at the Bartlett Co-op where he worked until 2003. He also drove a school bus for several years at Unified School District 506 until retiring.
He attended the Church of God at Four Corners, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Bartlett Co-op Association. Sam loved spending time with his family and singing.

Paul Sorrell and his wife, Lynette Verona, MO
Brother-in-law – Carl Shaffer Shawnee, OK
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Mae Sorrell, two brothers, Junior Sorrell and Benny Sorrell; and two sisters, Eva Lou Gaines and Rebecca Shaffer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Bartlett Christian Church. Burial will be at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
