Sandra Lea Hancock, 67, of Welch, Oklahoma died at 4:57 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2014 at her home.

She was born January 20, 1947 in Welch, Oklahoma to Dale and Norma (Doherty) Shere. She was a graduate of James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

She was an assistant manager at G&W Foods in Oswego until retiring about a year ago. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, computer games, her horses and her dogs. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.


She is survived by John E. "Eddie" Hancock, her husband of 40 years. In addition to her husband, survivors include her mother, Norma Swank, Oswego, KS; three sons, John Hancock, Jr., Hollywood, FL, Jason Hancock, Colorado Springs, CO and Andy Bowles, Wilson, KS; three daughters, Gadget White, Houston, TX, Kebbie Banks, Fredericksburg, VA, and Shanna Friend, Huntsville, AL; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Butch Shere, KS, and Billy Shere, KS; and five sisters, Carol Smith, Oswego, KS, Linda Peterson, Fredericksburg, VA, Janet Allen, Temecula, CA, Pam O'Riley, Temecula, CA, and Lisa Smith, CA.

She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Ronnie Swank; and her grandmother, Georgia Doherty.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. No services are planned at this time.
