Sandra B. Wilton, 78, of rural Erie, passed away at 10:10 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
She was born February 12, 1939 in Parsons, Kansas to Harrie J. and Helen M. (Cole) Cloonan. As a young girl, she grew up in Parsons where she attended schools. Sandra was a 1957 graduate of Parsons High School and later attended Parsons Jr. College where she earned an Associate degree in 1959.
On July 12, 1959, she and Richard E. Wilton were married in Parsons. Following marriage, the couple lived in Parsons where she worked at the United States Census Bureau. In 1961, they moved to Carthage, Missouri for two years before moving to Webb City, Missouri where they lived two years. The family then moved to Pittsburg, Kansas where she worked at Social Rehabilitation Services while attending Pittsburg State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree. In 1977, the family moved to Emporia where she worked at SRS, was Director of Social Services at St. Mary's Hospital, and earned a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) at Emporia State University.
Following her retirement in 1987, the couple returned to Southeast Kansas where they have lived since. Sandra was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed being a homemaker, playing bridge, and watching old movies. She especially loved country life and tending to her many animals.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael A. Wilton, on October 17, 1991; and one brother, Alan Cloonan.
Private graveside services have been held under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons with burial at Springhill Cemetery, rural Parsons.
