Shane Barnhart, 29, of rural Erie, Kansas, passed away at his home at 5:50 pm on Friday, May 26, 2017.

He was born June 1, 1987 at Chanute, Kansas to Jay and Kristina (Holcom) Barnhart. Shane grew up and attended school in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School in 2005. Following high school, Shane began working in the family construction business, TBS Construction, where he worked until his illness prevented him from working.

Shane loved fishing and hunting, coon hunting and riding horses and his Harley! He especially enjoyed spending time with his family! Shane attended the First Baptist Church in Chanute.

SURVIVORS INCLUDE:

One Son: Ty Barnhart – Thayer, Kansas

His Parents: Jay and Kristina Barnhart – Rural Erie, Kansas

One Brother: Brent Barnhart (Tessa) – Tulsa, OK

One Sister: Tara Thompson (Josh) – Lenexa, KS

Paternal Grandfather: Cecil Barnhart – Erie, KS

Maternal Grandmother: Mildred Holcom - Neodesha, Kansas

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 118 N. Forest in Chanute at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 with Elder Bob Hamm officiating. The family requests everyone to wear casual attire. There will be a Celebration of Shane's Life at 2:00 p.m., Friday at the home of his parents, 16600 Marshall Road, Erie, Kansas 66733.

Memorial contributions in memory of Shane are suggested to the Ty Barnhart Education Fund and these may be left at the memorial service or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, Kansas 67357.
