Sharon A. Smith, 64, of Parsons, died at 7:12 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2008, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
She was born September 18, 1944, in Long Beach, California, to Oren and Fayrene (Kenworthy) Dickens. As a young girl, she grew up in Neodesha, Kansas, where she attended schools and graduated from Neodesha High School.
She and Eugene "Gene" Smith were married in 1965. He survives.
In 1971, she moved to Parsons where she was employed for 35 years as a medication aide at Elmhaven East Nursing Home, retiring from there in 2006.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Richard Dickens; and one sister, Norma Bennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience after 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
