Sharon E. Sorrell, 69 of rural Bartlett, passed away at her home Friday morning, April 14, 2017.
She was born December 8, 1947 at Raton, New Mexico to Edwin Weir and Ida May (Smith) Weir. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Missouri where she attended grade school at Granby. Later they returned to New Mexico where she graduated from high school at Raton.
Sharon had many fond memories of growing up with her three brothers and two sisters which included two sets of twins and felt loved and supported by each of them. Sharon also was very close to her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. One of her favorite things was being an aunt to her nieces and nephews. She loved cooking, sewing, telling stories, and anything miniature. However, she discovered her true passion was being an amazing Grandmother, attending her grandchildren's programs and games as often as she could. She was a member of the Bartlett Co-op and very much enjoyed the friends she made when she ate at the local café.
She attended the Church of God at Four Corners, Oklahoma where she was steadfast in her belief of eternal life. While attending the Church of God, she made many lifelong friends, but she was especially close to DeLores & Randel Bradley and the Eck family.
She was united in marriage to Samuel "Sam" P. Sorrell, Sr. on June 25, 1966 at Neosho, Missouri. Following their marriage, they moved to Columbia, Missouri where they lived until 1968 when the family moved to Thayer, Missouri. In 1980, they moved to Bartlett, Kansas where she had lived since. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, on June 24, 2016.
Survivors include her son, Perry Sorrell and his wife, Jessica, of Edna, Kansas; six grandchildren, Amanda Kennedy and her husband, Eli; Holleigh Sorrell, Clancie Sorrell, Aubrie Sorrell, Riley Sorrell, and Elsie Sorrell; two great-grandchildren, Judah and Blakeleigh Kennedy; two brothers, Wes Weir and his wife, Karlene, of Bristow, Oklahoma and Ronnie Weir of Bristow, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Esther Weir, of Guthrie, Oklahoma; two sisters, Lynda Parson and her husband, Clyde, of Bristow, Oklahoma and Shirley Porter of Guthrie, Oklahoma.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Mae Sorrell; and one brother, Don Weir.
