Shelly L. Gray, 60, of McCune, passed away the morning of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at her home.
Shelly Lynn Henson was born on April 20, 1965, to William Steve Henson and Darlene Kay (Warner) Call in Miami, Oklahoma.
After graduating from Oswego High School, Shelly worked for many years in home health care. Her generous spirit was well suited to caring for the elderly.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee, where she attended regularly with her family.
A devoted “Nana,” Shelly loved watching her grandchildren grow up. She centered her life around her family, finding joy in caring for and spending time with them. She also enjoyed doing crafts and sewing.
On July 16, 1983, Shelly and Wallace Lee Gray, Jr. were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Columbus. He survives of the home.

Wallace Anthony Gray and his wife, Dominique, of McCune, Kansas
Carmen Kay Gray of Cherokee, Kansas
Nichole Lynn Smith and her husband, Matthew, of McCune, Kansas
Six grandchildren – A.J. Gray, Lexi Gray, William Gray, Daylon Gray, Bella Gray, and Elias Smith
Her father – William Henson of Macon, Georgia
One sister – Sherry Denner of Sarasota, Florida
Three nieces
Four nephews
She was preceded in death by her mother, Darlene Call; her in-laws, Wallace Lee Gray, Sr. and Sharon Louise Gray; and granddaughter, Addison.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Shelly at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the McCune Community Center. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to help defray final expenses. Checks can be made payable to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. These may be left at or sent to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
