Shirley Rose Banzet

Shirley Rose Banzet, 84, of of Chetopa, Kansas passed away at 10:35 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

She was born June 14, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph and Anna (Pudelski) Darway.  She graduated from high school at the Olmstead Falls High School in 1956.  Shirley was united in marriage to Jimmie G. Banzet in March of 1969.  He preceded her in death in June of 1975.

Shirley and Jim owned and operated the Bartlett Construction Company, J & S Trucking Co and SRB Accounting Services all in Bartlett, Kansas.  For 20 years, she worked for the Grandview Products Cabinet Mfg. Company for 20 years.  She had also worked for the former Huntsman Coach Company in Oswego, Kansas for 10 years.  Shirley had also served as an organist and vocalist at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chetopa, St. Barbara Church in Cleveland, Ohio and the West Side United Church of Christ in Cleveland.   Shirley was on the Board of Directors for the Class LTD at Columbus, Kansas for 18 years.  Shirley was always devoted to giving back to her community in some way.

She is survived by a sister, Kathleen Babinec of Parma, Ohio as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded by her parents and a sister, Joann Bosley.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m, Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Lake Creek Cemetery at Bartlett with Fr. Larry Parker officiating.
