Shirley J. Harding, 92, of Erie, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at her home. She had been in her usual health and death was not expected.
She was born August 18, 1920, in Huron, South Dakota, to Cecil and Hattie (Marks) Crabb. At the age of 13, her family moved to Kansas where she attended school and was a 1938 graduate of Grant Township High School in Stark.
Through the years she had worked at Aeroduct in Chanute, Bush Hog in Galesburg, Swift and Company in Parsons, Kustom Signal in Chanute, and Prest Lumber Company in Erie.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
She and Don Harding were married September 15, 1940. He preceded her in death July 31, 1978.
Survivors include:
One Son – Doug Harding and his wife, Jan Erie, KS
Daughter-in-law – Sue Harding Thayer, KS
Six Grandchildren
Nineteen Great-Grandchildren
Four Great-Great-Grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters,one son, Dick Harding; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2013, at Bethel Cemetery near Erie. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
