Shirley J. Hizey, 67, of Galesburg, died at 2:41 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Labette Health in Parsons.
She was born February 15, 1942, in Parsons, Kansas, to Tom and Lucille (Shue) Crawshaw. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Galesburg where she attended schools.
On December 29, 1958, she and Tom Hizey were married in Chanute. Following marriage, they lived in Chanute, Augusta, and Parsons before moving to Galesburg, in 1970, where they have lived since. For over 25 years, Shirley worked as ward secretary at the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons.
She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed hosting family gatherings, and was an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events and other activities. Shirley was an "Elvis" fan and also enjoyed being involved in community events.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2009, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Sunday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The casket will remain closed.
