Shirley L. Slenker, 88, of Parsons, died at 9:40 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.
She was born April 16, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of George I. and Helen Margaret (Lyon) Slenker. She grew up and attended school in both Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas.
In the 1990's, she moved to the Parsons area where she was active at the CLASS LTD workshop. In the past, she had attended Respite Care at the Parsons Nazarene Church. She loved cats and shoes and enjoyed drawing houses and home floor plans. She also loved listening to marches written by John Philip Sousa and watching her favorite soap opera, General Hospital.
Survivors include several aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Kansas City, Missouri.
