Sonya L. Hoisington

Sonya L. Hoisington, 71, of Parsons died at 1:55 a.m., Sunday, April 06, 2008 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin.

She was born December 27, 1936, in Parsons, to Harry J. Flora and Louise B. (Noel) Flora. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons. She graduated from Parsons High School and then from Labette Community College with a degree in Nursing. She worked at the Labette County Medical Center and was one of the first nurses hired in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital. She later worked in several of the local nursing homes.

She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, collecting antique glassware, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She and William Hoisington were married on June 5, 1959 in Parsons. He survives of the home.

One Brother – Jon Michael Flora Parsons, KS

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
