Stephen L. "Steve" Cook, 59, a lifelong resident of rural Parsons, died Monday evening, October 16, 2006 from injuries sustained as a result of a two-car accident east of Parsons.
He was born February 20, 1947 in Parsons to Raymond L. and Mary K. (Wood) Cook. He grew up on the "Montana Road" east of Parsons. He attended Service Valley Grade School and graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
He and Earlene Willey were married. They later divorced.
For a time, he worked as a custodian at St. Patrick's Catholic School in Parsons. He had also been employed by the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant.
He enjoyed electronics, square dancing and was a collector of John Deere tractors.
His memberships included the First Baptist Church in Parsons and a past member of the International Order of Odd Fellows.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Cook on June 5, 2003; his mother, Mary K. Cook on July 4, 2003; an infant brother, Donald Ray Cook; and a sister, Glenda Beeman.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2006 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.
