Stephen M. Payne, 55, of Parsons, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected.
He was born October 6, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri to George M. and Jacqueline B. (McKnight) Payne. He grew up and attended schools in Kansas City, Missouri where he graduated from Southeast High School. He then served in the United States Army.
While living in Kansas City, Stephen was employed by Farmers Insurance Group. In the late 1980's, he moved to Parsons where he worked at Individual Mausoleum Company for a time.
He was a member of Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church in Parsons.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Payne, in 1997.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
