Rural Columbus

Steve W. Nash, 50, of rural Columbus, passed away at 11:58 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2020, at his home.  He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of the home.

Steven Wane Nash was born on March 29, 1969, to Donald Wane and Wilma June (Stapleton) Nash in Oswego, Kansas.  As a young boy, Steve grew up in the Columbus area and attended schools in Columbus, a Christian school in Hallowell and Victory Academy Christian School in Miami, Oklahoma.  In 1987, he graduated high school from Victory Academy Christian School.

A lifelong farmer in the Columbus area, Steve had also worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons for a time.  He was a member of the Community Bible Church in Chetopa.  Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, hunting and shooting skeet.

On September 5, 1998, Steve and Cheryl A. Reynolds were united in marriage in Carthage, Missouri.  She survives of the home.

Two brothers – Ricky Nash and his wife, Sherry, of rural Chetopa

Richard Nash of rural Columbus

Three sisters – Kathy Carnahan of rural Columbus

Nancy Black and her husband, Steven, of rural Mound Valley

Patty Wilkinson of Chetopa

Numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Kennith; and one brother-in-law, Jack Wilkinson.

There will be a private family service on Thursday with burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery, east of Chetopa.  Friends may call 2 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21 or 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.

Memorials are suggested to Community Bible Church of Chetopa.  These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS  67336.
