Steve A. Shockley, 50, of Parsons, died at 11:59 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at Labette Health.

He was born July 14, 1962, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Joe Dean Shockley, Sr. and Mary Delores (Rowden) Shockley. He grew up in Wichita where he attended schools and graduated from Wichita West High School.

Following high school, he moved to Joplin where he lived until moving to Parsons two years ago. Through the years, he worked as a laborer in construction. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Joplin, Missouri. Steve enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing.

Marvin Coy Joplin, MO
Three Sisters – Lola "Chris" Fraughton Joplin, MO
Mary Riggs Joplin, MO
Leona Shockley Joplin, MO

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Hazel Shockley.

The body has been cremated under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Private committal services will be held by the family at a future date.
