Steven K. Smith, 72, of Pittsburg, Kansas died at 12:40 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
He was born April 8, 1942 in Oswego, Kansas to Roy Franklin and Berniece Maxine (Davidson) Smith. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Wichita and was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont. He later attended college at Colby and Pittsburg State University.
In the 1960's, he served in the United States Army and retired as Staff Sergeant at the age of 60.
He was Catholic. Steven enjoyed stamp and coin collecting and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include one sister, Darla Kristin, of Parsons, KS; two nephews, Matthew and Michael Smith; and one niece, Shannah Kristin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Smith; his mother, Berniece Smith, on May 19, 2013; and one brother, Kerry A. Smith who died in June of 2014.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
