Steven T. Whittley

Steven T. Whittley, 16, of Independence, Kansas and a former Parsons resident, died Wednesday evening, July 24, 2013 at the Verdigris River in Independence, Kansas. He was born November 8, 1996 at Parsons, Kansas to John R. Numbers and Jennifer R. Ingalsbe. He grew up and attended school in Parsons until the age of ten when he moved with his family to Independence, Kansas. He was currently attending the Independence High School where he had completed his sophomore year in May of 2013. He especially enjoyed drawing and playing basketball. Steven is survived by: His mother, Jennifer Ferrell and her companion, Barry Shull - of the home; his father, John Numbers and his wife, Dawna - of Delta, Colorado; Three brothers, Dominick Ferrell and Cody Shull - of the home and Eric Huebner of Parsons; one stepbrother, Tyler Smith of Hays, Kansas and one stepsister, Taryn Teal of Delta, Colorado; Maternal grandparents, Kay Essig of Independence, Kansas and John Ingalsbe of Cherryvale, Kansas; Maternal grandmother, Helen Reid of Yankton, South Dakota; Uncle - Shawn Whittley and family of Coffeyville, Kansas; as well as his longtime girlfriend, Amanda Upton of Independence, Kansas. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the memorial service until 9 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Steven T. Whittley Fund to help defray expenses.
