Sue Winter

Altamont

Sue Winter, 72, of Altamont, and formerly of Ft. Scott, passed away at 2:48 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2018 at her home.

She was born October 8, 1945 in Lexington, Kentucky to Elmo and Lorainne (Smith) Prather.  As a young girl, Sue grew up and attended schools in Tennessee and Ohio.

On March 23, 1974, she and Darrell Winter were married in Sunnyvale, California.  Following marriage, the couple lived in Fort Scott, Kansas until moving to Altamont in 2008.

Sue was a member of the Richards Christian Church in Richards, Missouri and had attended Christ's Church of Labette County since living in Altamont.  She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and photography.  Sue was always supportive of her family and friends and was considered to be an exceptionally good listener.

Her husband - Darrell Winter, of the home

One Son – Bill Glenn Winter of St. Joseph, MO

One Daughter – Ginger Leann Lewis and her husband, Chuck, of Oswego, KS

Fourteen Grandchildren – Lonnie Wilson, Raven (Chris) Mathison, Jimmy (Kayla) Wilson, Arron (Cayla) Grow, Heidi Grow, Brittney (Eduardo) Wilson, Darrell (Caitlin) Winter, II, Jordyn (Abigail) Winter, Joshua Wilson, Shea Lewis, Dava Lewis, Blain Lewis, Kylee Lewis, and Life Veenstra

Ten Great-Grandchildren

One Brother – Earl Prather and his wife, Beth, of Jacksonville, FL

One Sister – Jeanne Whaley of Crossville, TN

Special Friends – Mitzi Davis and Tina Smith

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Toby Yee and Sandra Solomon; and a dear friend, Debbie Wadel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Richards Christian Church in Richards, Missouri.  Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Missouri.  The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.  These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
