Tena A. LaPee, 79, of Coffeyville, died at 8:11 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 26, 1934, at her home in Melrose, Kansas to John Patrick and Rozena May (Stewart) LaPee.
She was a member of the Church of God in Chetopa. She had read her bible over 30 times, loved singing hymns, and enjoyed working puzzle books and playing with children. In younger years, she bucked hay bales and fed livestock. She had a cheerful smile and her wonderful stories will always be remembered by her family and friends.
Survivors include two sisters, Sharon (LaPee) Ahrens and husband, Cecil, of Welch, OK and Frieda (LaPee) Whitecotton of Columbus, KS; and nephew, Robert Eugene LaPee and his wife, Linda, of Coffeyville, who she had resided with her last days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Cora Shelton and her husband, Johnny; and brother-in-law, Roy Whitecotton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Faith Baptist Church in Chetopa. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.
