Theda M. Wilson, 88, of Chetopa, died at 10:45 p.m., Monday, July 4, 2011, at Chetopa Manor. She had been in failing health.
She was born December 21, 1922, in Craig County, Oklahoma to Clinton O. and Anna (Gail) Wilson. As a young girl, she attended Watson and Blackberry elementary schools, and was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont. She then attended Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg where she earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree.
Through the years she taught in rural schools and elementary schools in Oswego, Chetopa and Coffeyville before retiring after 47 years of service in 1987.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chetopa. She was a past member of Kansas State Teachers' Association and National Education Association; and a current member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, American Association of University Women and the Coffeyville branch of Retired Teachers' Association.

One Niece – Katherine Nixon Shell Knob, MO
She was preceded in death by one brother, Merwin Wilson; one sister, Gail Cunningham; and one nephew, Donald Ray Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2011, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-5:00 p.m., on Sunday.
