Theresa D. Sanford, 67, of Parsons, died at 9:20 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2007, in the Emergency Room at Labette Health from injuries received in an automobile accident near Erie.
She was born December 30, 1939, in Clay Center, Kansas, to Albert E. and Thelma D. (Nemnich) Patenaude. In her childhood years, she attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center and later graduated from Wakefield High School.
In 1955, she and Robert Sanford were married. During their marriage, they lived in Clay Center, Wakefield, Kansas City, Blue Rapids and Downs, Kansas. They later divorced.
In 1968, after moving to Parsons, Theresa worked at Swift's Plant and Alloway's Restaurant. In February 1969, she began working at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center where she remained until she retired in June 2005. She attended classes at Labette Community College where she studied to be a licensed mental health technician.
She was active in the Psychiatric Aide Organization and the State Board of Psychiatric Aides. She also was project director in the Labette County Genealogy Society and program chairman for AARP. Through the years, she participated in fund raising activities at the Senior Citizens Center in Parsons and Katy Days. She also enjoyed quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2007, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2007, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
