Thomas H. "T.H." Long, Jr., 68, of Altamont, died at 1:07 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons. He had been in usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born December 22, 1937 in Mt. Harris, Colorado to Thomas H. Long, Sr. and Pansy R. (Bowen) Long. His father later remarried, and at that time, he was adopted by his step-mother, Dolores H. Long. He grew up and attended elementary and middle schools in Colorado before moving with his family to Wyoming. The family later moved to Altamont where he graduated from LCCHS in 1956. He also attended Parsons Jr. College and worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center as an aide. In 1956 he worked at Boeing in Wichita before joining the Navy. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 – 1962. In 1962, upon his return to Altamont, he worked at Long's Superette, attended Jr. College and was employed by the PSH&TC.
On July 6, 1962, he and Deloris M. "Pokey" Cowart were married at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. In 1968, he and his father formed L & L Construction where he was currently employed.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a Methodist, a member of Altamont Masonic Lodge No. 69, Mirza Shrine and was a Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Russell Powell.
Following cremation, a memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Masonic rites will be given by the Altamont Masonic Lodge No. 69.
