Thomas F. "Tom" Grassi, Sr., 75, of Oswego, passed away at 1:40 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Chetopa Manor.
He was born March 12, 1940 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Theodore and Reba (Bates) Grassi. He grew up and attended schools in Pittsburg and was a graduate of Pittsburg High School. He then attended Pittsburg State University for two years.
Tom served in the United States Army before serving in the Army Reserve. He briefly worked for the railroad prior to his employment with Prudential as an insurance agent. In 2004, he moved to his current address in Oswego.
He was a member of the Oswego United Methodist Church. Tom enjoyed repairing and building clocks, woodworking, working on construction projects, and was an excellent "handy-man" to his friends and neighbors.
He and Susan Jo Burnam were married May 4, 2006 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, survivors include:
One Son – Tommy, Jr.
One Daughter – Robin
One Stepson – Jeffrey
Three Stepdaughters – Candy, Sherri, and Dallas
Numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Per his request, Tom's body has been donated to science under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. No services are planned at this time.
