Thressa E. Volmer, 71, of rural Parsons, died at 4:19 a.m., Sunday April 9, 2017 at her home.
She was born August 26, 1945 in Parsons to Ernest W. and Catherine (Stover) Hinman. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1963. She later received a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate form Labette Community College.
She and Francis Eugene "Gene" Volmer were married on September 21, 1963 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. After their marriage they lived in St. Paul, Kansas before moving to rural Parsons. She was a very proud homemaker and was the bookkeeper for their family business, Volmer Diesel Truck Service, since 1972.
She was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, now St. Patrick's and its altar society. In earlier years, she enjoyed crafting for craft shows, bowling, crocheting. She volunteered many hours at the former Katy Hospital and events and activities at church. She also enjoyed camping, boating, gardening, and traveling with her husband.
She is survived by her husband Gene Volmer of the home;
Three sons:
Bradley Volmer and his wife Kimberly of rural Parsons
Bryan Volmer of rural Parsons
Steven Volmer and his wife Jennifer of rural Parsons
Eight grandchildren – Brock and his wife Shelby, Brianna, Erica, Lauren, Riley, Tate, Matthew, and Mason
Three great-grandchildren – Brody, Delaney, and Lily and one on the way
One Sister - Kay Shonk and her husband, Don, of Tyler, Texas
Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Bob Hinman, Bud Hinman, and Rick Hinman.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary at 7:30 p.m.
