Timothy E. Voorhees

Timothy E. "Tim" Voorhees, 58, of Altamont, died, Friday, September 5, 2025, at his home.

Tim believed that if you were going to do something, do it shamelessly or don't do it at all. That's not to say that he never apologized - Tim apologized often and it was usually warranted. Tim was offensive and endearing in equal measure. His mixture of sharp wit and juvenile humor baffled those who didn't know him well and sometimes those who did.

He always tried to protect what was his and he often tried to do the right thing. He was incredibly critical and he only heard what he wanted to, but he had a deep appreciation of the profound and he never stopped loving the stars.

Tim was usually in some kind of trouble with most everyone he knew - he never could figure out how to be diplomatic or delicate, but he knew how to make someone laugh and he spent most of his own life laughing.

Tim wasn't the most responsible, but he always took care of what he needed to. He believed in minding his own business and he didn't take kindly to people trying to mind his.

He was honest to a fault and his loyalty got him in hot water more than once.

Tim knew how to build a house, fix a car, bait a hook, skin a squirrel, and tell a dirty joke.

Despite his extensive vocabulary, he cussed most of the time and swore the rest. He only took uncalculated risks and he always wore all of his emotions on his face.

Tim always fought for what he believed in - at the expense of friends, relatives, jobs, or public opinion - he held on to what he believed was true. He had a magnificent imagination, a resourceful sense of creativity, and a startling attention to detail.

Tim believed that life was meant to be lived and Tim lived a lot of life.

Tim married his sweetheart young, raised two daughters and a grandson with her, and somehow managed to keep her til the end.

Tim was loved deeply and he will be missed dearly.

Cremation is under the care of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Altamont.  No service is planned at this time.
