Tom L. Shelton, 94, of Claremore, Oklahoma, formerly of Altamont, died at 6:10 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Sterling House in Claremore. He had been in failing health.
He was born May 24, 1915, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Robert and Della (Crail) Shelton. During World War II, Mr. Shelton served in the United States Army.
Throughout his adult life, he had resided in Kansas and Oklahoma. For many years, he worked in a flourmill in Coffeyville where he retired.
He and Rosie Payton were married October 10, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death October 23, 2000.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and a stepdaughter, Dovie Asher Keeton.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont with military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
