Tony D. Kenworthy, Sr., 73, of rural Columbus, passed away at 3:07 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his home.

He was born September 15, 1944 in Dennis, Kansas to Jack William and Norma I. (Jones) Kenworthy. He grew up and attended school in the Dennis area and graduated in 1962 from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

Tony worked all of his adult life for the M-K-T Railroad, and later the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring as Yardmaster in 2005. He also farmed and raised cattle until retiring.

He was an avid gun collector. Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, camping, and held The America the Beautiful National Parks Pass. He was a proud supporter of the military and all veterans.

Survivors include:

One Son – Todd Kenworthy and his wife, Crystal, of Claremore, OK

One Daughter – Tina Gatton and her husband, Brian, of Altamont, KS

Four Grandchildren – Brandon Gatton, Brian Gatton, Jr., Markel Kenworthy, and Jacob Kenworthy

Three Great-Grandchildren

Two Brothers – Melvin Kenworthy of Riley, KS

Jim Kenworthy of Independence, KS

Four Sisters – Peggy Cunningham of Altamont, KS

Bonnie Cunningham of Altamont, KS

Suzie Harper of Newton, KS

Charlotte Sisseck of Copan, OK

His Best Friend and "Brother" – Doyle Templeton and his wife, Cathy, of Welch, OK

He was preceded in death by two sons, Tony D. "Zeke" Kenworthy, Jr. on November 12, 2005 and infant Carl Wayne Kenworthy; two brothers, Orville Kenworthy and Jack William Kenworthy, Jr.; and one sister, Jeannie O'Neal.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dennis. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to help defray expenses. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
