Torre T. White, 58, of Independence, MO, passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
Torre Tyrone White was born on September 7, 1964 in Parsons, KS. He was the second son and child of Harold Charles White, Jr. and Dorothy June "Peaches" White. He grew up and attended school in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School in 1983 where he participated in football, basketball, track and baseball.
Following high school, Torre attended Cowley Community College, Independence Community College and Penn Valley Community College. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Park University in Parkville, MO. Torre also served in the Army National Guard for a length of time.
He began his working career at UPS in Parsons and subsequently worked in heating and cooling for a short time in Kansas City, MO. He then moved on to become a package handler and afterwards a truck driver for the Roadway Package System (RPS), which is now Fed Ex. For several years, Torre eagerly pursued and furthered his professional career and goals with Fed Ex, to the extent, that at the time of his retirement from Fed Ex, Torre's position was managing director. With hard work embedded in his character, he did not remain retired very long but he soon returned back to the workforce as a supervisor for UPS in Kansas City for 9 years.
In his youth, he was a member of Pleas Chapel COGIC which is now Watson Memorial COGIC in Parsons. In his adult years, he became a member of the Graceway Church in Raytown, MO.
Torre's favorite past times were playing dominoes, cards, watching football, basketball, baseball and attending the BIG 12 Tournament with his guy friends, brothers and family. But in his most recent days and months, he loved and enjoyed spending precious time with his adorable 1 year old granddaughter, Siya, whom he affectionately called "Pooda"!
On January 9, 2021, Torre and Laura A. Brooks were united in marriage.
Torre is survived by his wife, Laura White, of the home; one daughter, Briauna White, also of the home; his mother, Dorothy J. "Peaches" Dennis, of Parsons, KS; twin step-sons, Larnell Smith (Patricia) of Kansas City, MO and Darnell Smith (Shanelle) of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren Jaden, Kaleb, Elijah, Micah, Siya, and Amir; five brothers, Harold Charles White, III, Cortez White, Monte White and Theron English, Jr (Sara) all of Parsons, KS and Diondre Sylvester of Hutchinson, KS; three sisters, Leslie Thomas (Terry) of Van Buren Township, Michigan; Tonya Martin (Roger) of Coffeyville, KS and Latricia Godfrey (Mbee) of Wichita, KS.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Charles White, Jr.; two sisters, Tawana White and Latrice Nevels and a number of other loved ones.
His memory will continue to be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, friends, and two very special and longtime friends, Steve Hickles and Eric Gaylord.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at the church.
