Treva M. McColey, 97, a lifelong resident of Bartlett, died at 9:00 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2007, at Labette Health in Parsons.
She was born October 7, 1910, in rural Labette County, to Charles Jackson and Bertha (Austin) McColey. She attended Liggett Country School and was a 1929 graduate of Edna High School. She returned to the family farm until 1946 at which time she moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma, for one month, to pursue her teaching certificate.
In 1947-1948, she taught at a country school in Oklahoma before returning to the family farm where she was engaged in farming and ranching.
She was a member of the Bartlett United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Freddie O. McColey, Jerry L. McColey and Elsworth M. McColey.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Bartlett United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa from 12:00 noon – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2007.
