Trudy L. Shields, 41, of Chetopa, formerly of Oswego, died at 1:33 p.m., Thursday, July 29, 2010, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born February 22, 1969, in San Bernardino, California, to T. L. and Wanda Lee (Neal) Martin. As a baby, her mother married Bob Scott whom Trudy always considered to be her father.
She moved to Chetopa with her family when she was in the 8th grade and was a 1987 graduate of Chetopa High School. Following high school graduation, she attended Labette Community College where she earned a degree in respiratory therapy. She passed the State Board exam but was never able to work in the field of respiratory therapy due to ill health.
She was a member of the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. She especially enjoyed attending her son's sporting events and spending time at her church. She also enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bob Scott.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service.
