Velma L. Hollon, 87, of Columbus, formerly of Oswego, died at 6:40 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Medicalodge of Columbus where she had resided the past two years.
She was born January 3, 1923, in Oswego, Kansas, to Elmer Dale and Maggie Mae (Stice) Richardson. She was a lifelong resident of southeast Kansas where she grew up and attended Gore School.
She enjoyed flower gardening and especially enjoyed helping her children with their cattle operations.
She and Clarence Lindley "Lin" Hollon were married July 17, 1947. He preceded her in death October 20, 1987.

Eugene Hollon and wife, Judy Oswego, KS
Dallas Lynn Hollon and wife, Julie Pueblo, CO
One Daughter – Bridgett Rebecca "Becky" Landers and husband, Greg

One Sister – Lucille Domeny and husband, Paul Mounds, OK
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dannie Richardson; one sister, Marie Gillespie; one son, Larry Dean Hollon, on June 2, 1984; and one great-grandson, Daniel Cosgrove.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
