Verl R. Brownewell, 70, of rural Mound Valley, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at his home.
Verl Ray Brownewell was born on March 26, 1953, to Earl and Fayrene (Bircher) Brownewell in Oswego. He grew up and attended school in the Mound Valley area, graduating from Labette County High School in 1971.
For a time, he was a transport driver for the United States Postal Service. He had also worked at Quality Motors as a car detailer for many years.
He was a lifelong member of the Mound Valley Christian Church.
Verl enjoyed working on, tinkering with and renovating cars. He also enjoyed woodworking and listening to music.
Verl and Sandra Mary Kolofsky were united in marriage. She survives of the home.

One son – David Brownewell and his wife, Missy, of Mound Valley, Kansas
Two grandchildren – Dusty Lynn Brownewell and James R. Brownewell
One brother – Claude R. Brownewell and his wife, Colleen, of Parsons, Kansas
One sister – Earlena McKee and her husband, Alan, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Mound Valley Cemetery.
