Vernon "Butch" Altenburger, 69, of Parsons, passed away the evening of Friday, June 3, 2022, in Waldron, Arkansas.
Vernon Earl Altenburger was born on October 22, 1953, to Clarence Walton and Betty Ann (Wilson) Altenburger in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a young boy, he moved with this family to Corona, California, where he grew up and attended school. Following high school, Butch served in the United States Army. In 2000, he moved to Parsons. Butch later moved to Arkansas, where he worked for Cargill Beef.
He enjoyed waterskiing, camping, metal-detecting and motorcycles.
Survivors include:
One daughter – Christi Stringer and her husband, Bryan, of Parsons, Kansas
One step-son – Rusty Hester of Boonville, Arkansas
Three step-daughters – Kayla Tillery of Booneville, Arkansas
Rachel Scott of Ohio
Tasha Haugh of Boonville, Arkansas
Eight grandchildren
Seven great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Altenburger.
No service has been planned. Cremation is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
