Veronica R. "Bonnie" (Munding) Kennan, 87, of Parsons, died at 9:35 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.
She was born August 4, 1924, in Parsons, Kansas, to Norbert Martin and Gertrude Marie (Seiler) Munding. She grew up in Parsons where she attended St. Patrick's Elementary School, graduated from Parsons High School in 1942, and earned an Associate's degree from Parsons Jr. College in 1944. During World War II, her concern for others and patriotism shown through as she worked nights and weekends as a volunteer nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital in Parsons.
Upon graduation from Jr. College, she worked at Slaybaugh Drug Store where she began her career that would last a lifetime. It was here that Bonnie helped build the cosmetic sales at Slaybaugh's, and soon her reputation and clientele base increased extensively. Her make-up artistry was sought from around the region. She was hired from Slaybaugh's by Helena Rubinstein Cosmetic Company, where she traveled throughout the United States as a cosmetic consultant. After she chose to end her traveling career, she settled in Kansas City, Missouri where she worked at Woolf Brothers downtown and on the Plaza, before retiring.
She and Henry "Hank" Kennan were married June 6, 1981, at Visitation Catholic
Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1996.
In December of 2004, she returned to her hometown of Parsons to be closer to her dear family. Bonnie's loving devotion as a sister and aunt to so many nieces and nephews will always be remembered. She was a second mother to so many. She was a former member of Cure` of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, KS and a current member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Besides enjoying time with her family, Bonnie was extremely generous and received great pleasure in supporting her numerous charities over the years. She also enjoyed needlepoint, music and shopping.

Ramona Carnahan and husband, Lee Altamont, KS;
Sister-in-law - Marietta Munding rural Parsons, KS;
Nieces and Nephews – Trudy Nienhuser, Stephen Workman, Kristina Baker, David Workman, Paul Workman, Michael Carland, Jane Lahey, John Carland, Susan Campbell, Kelly Carland, Julie McCarthy, Paul Stoecklein, Gretchen Belken, Mary Beth Fisher, Liz Munding, Joe Munding, Terri Fehr and Lori Sutherland;
Numerous Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews, including Will Fehr, whom she cared for the first 10 months of his life and shared with him her love of music and sweets.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William M. Munding and Norbert Joseph Munding; five sisters, Anne Workman, Maxine Crudden, Lucille Carland, Elizabeth "Betty" Hodges and Anita Kimble; two nephews, Mark Workman and Tony Workman; and one niece, Judy (Workman) Huff.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2011, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
