Vida M. (McKinzie) Sorrell, 85, of rural McCune, died at 10:30 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas, following a brief illness.
She was born February 5, 1923, in Greensburg, Kansas, to William T. and Onah Lola (Meyers) Gofourth. She grew up and attended school in Parsons. She lived in Parsons and rural McCune most of her adult life after moving to rural McCune in 1947. She worked as a switchboard operator and receptionist at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for many years.
She and Oscar "Doc" McKinzie were married in October 1939. He preceded her in death in August 1974. She and Gene Sorrell were married in November 1984. He preceded her in death January 9, 2006.
She loved quilting, sewing and making apple pies. She was a member of the McCune United Methodist Church, the McCune United Methodist Women's Group, and the Strauss Community Club.

She was preceded in death by one brother, William Gofourth; one sister, Alma Pitts; and two half-brothers, Jerry Gofourth and Fred Gofourth.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the funeral home.
