Virgil L. Freeberg, 86, of Parsons, died at 5:15 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born July 3, 1924 in McCune, Kansas to William R. Freeberg and Anna C. (French) Freeberg. He moved with his family to Pittsburg in 1929 and then to Parsons in 1939. He graduated from Parsons Senior High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. Following his discharge he returned to Parsons. He worked as a truck driver and bus driver for a time. He later worked as a manager of grain elevators in Mildred, Colony, and in Parsons, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Parsons and the Brown-Bishop Post #704 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of the Parsons Lodge #117 A.F. & A. M. In earlier years, Virgil enjoyed Square Dancing.
Virgil and Dorothy Sayers were married on December 12, 1943 in Parsons. She survives of the home.

One Daughter – Dianna Jean Frazier Joplin, Missouri
Eight grandchildren,
Nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Freeberg, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2001 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Masonic Rites given by the Parsons Lodge #117 A.F. & A. M., and Military Honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post #704 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
