Virgil L. Grizzle, 82, of Chanute, Kansas, died Friday, October 14, 2011, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas.
Virgil was born September 19, 1929, in Iola, Kansas, the son of George F. and Minnie M. (Jones) Grizzle. He graduated from LaHarpe High School.
On November 13, 1949, Virgil married Wanda Lee Larkey and they made their home in Odense. In 1964, they moved to Wichita and since 1969, they have resided in Chanute. Virgil farmed and milked cows. He worked as an inspector for the State of Kansas Department of Weights and Measures before retiring in 1995. His wife preceded him in death on November 29, 2010.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chanute. Virgil enjoyed outdoor activities of camping, boating and water skiing. He was an avid basketball fan and rooted for the K.U. Jayhawks.

Five Brothers: Lionel Grizzle of Sweet Home, Oregon, Glen Grizzle of Lebanon, Oregon, Darrell Grizzle of Wellington, KS, Alvin Grizzle of LaHarpe, KS, and George Grizzle, Jr. of El Dorado, KS
One Sister: Elva Barnes of Cassoday, KS
He was preceded in death by a sister, Velda Parks.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
BURIAL: LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, KS
